Billionaires and Bridesmaids Book Two
Can be read as a standalone
Edie’s an overbearing cat behaviorist who’s not big on people. Magnus is a newly-rich game developer who likes to be in control. When the two of them meet at Gretchen and Hunter’s masquerade engagement party, the loathing is mutual. Unfortunately for them—and everyone else—they’re in the wedding party together and must deal with each other for the next few months.
But when Magnus’s younger brother falls for Edie’s sister, he begs for his brother’s help in concocting a plan to win her over. If Magnus can keep the prickly Edie occupied, his brother will have time to woo Edie’s sister. Of course, Magnus isn’t interested in the slightest, but Edie is…intriguing. And stubborn. And smart. And sexy. And they might have more in common than they thought.
Before long, it becomes a challenge between the two of them to see who will be tamed first. But how’s Edie going to react when she finds out that Magnus is using her? And how’s Magnus going to handle the fact that he’s fallen for a cat lady?
A sweet, tender-hearted romance that will have you falling in love with the heroine. And out of all of the heroines I’ve ever read, I think I relate the most to Edie. Minimal angst and great, hot sex scenes, this book is perfect for someone looking for their next sweet romance.
Edie is a feline behaviorist (read: cat lady) and she prefers the company of cats over humans. Seeing as she really only has one person who she can rely on, that’s not much of a stretch to believe that humans are farther down on her list. When Magnus and Edie cross paths for the first time, it’s instant hate. Butting of heads, strength of wills, and snaked tongues ensue. Edie’s soft heart for animals will, unfortunately, bring her back into the same path as Magnus where their words will eventually spark desire. Magnus, on the other hand, is of a creative mind which has earned him millions of dollars. He has no time for distractions, and his brother Levi is inviting the biggest distraction into his life: Edie. With a plan to keep Edie occupied so Levi can get with her sister Bianca, Magnus begins to slowly woo her. And what originally starts as just a plan to keep her occupied quickly turns into a man seeing a woman for what she is: beautiful, strong, and independent.
I truly love Jessica Clare’s writing. She makes reading so simple and enjoyable with stories that bring characters that literally could be you or someone you know. Edie’s big activism for cats and her strong sense of being independent despite her flaws was refreshing, and the way that she opens the eyes of Magnus’ to what he’s missing made that empowerment even greater. It was erotic and sweet, and oh the humor! I burst out laughing quite a few times…Edie’s sassy mouth was hilarious. I just love when two characters “hate” each other and that anger turns into desire and passion that’s raw and uninhibited. Loved it!
(Also, on a side note, I’m sharpening my cleaver for Bianca right now…let’s hope she doesn’t come across me!)
“‘I don’t want all that shit in here. I like my room the way it is,’ he told her, his irritation rising at her high-handed comments. ‘It’s minimalist.’
‘It’s ugly,’ she said bluntly. ‘And it’s unwelcoming.’
‘I’m not trying to make you welcome,’ he lashed back.
‘For the cat, you fool. And get that litterbox unless you want the cat to stake out your bed as the place to go to the bathroom.’ Her bitter little smile at him became wicked. ‘Though I’m sure your bed is used to seeing pieces of shit.'”
