The pressure has never been more intense for Rough Riders’ star defenseman Beckett Croft. With his contact expiring, Beckett has to live up to his badass reputation every minute of every game to earn the next big deal. A deal that will secure a stable home for his five-year-old daughter. So when an injury on the ice threatens to send him to the ER, he fights protocol—until the feisty EMT refuses to take no for an answer. Beckett likes his women assertive, and the spark between them is nothing short of scorching. Her indifference to his fame and money only intrigues him more. And by the time he peeks beneath her tightly sealed edges to see her beautiful but deeply wounded soul, he’s in way too deep to pull back.

After years of shutting herself off from men, Eden is tempted by the heat that blazes when she is around the NHL’s most notorious bad boy—even toying with an inkling of “what if”. But life has taught her how painfully that kind of fire burns. And how deeply it scars. So Eden denies the spark room to grow, the same way she shut out the violence from her past, focusing instead on her career and finishing paramedic school. She’ll never rely on a man for money or security again.

But when the heat between them becomes too hot to ignore, one night isn’t enough. Soon, Beckett and Eden find themselves caught between desire and fear—with painful pasts pulling them in one direction and a fragile new love pulling them in another. All while the family and careers that matter most hang in the balance.

HOT PUCK is a passion-filled second installment in Skye Jordan’s Rough Riders series. Jordan shines with her ballsy and tough heroine but softens the story with her compassionate, single dad hero. The two should come together like oil and water, but they instead create a wildfire of the best kind. Again, the story instantly draws us in and the writing wraps us into the tale instantly.

I don’t read a lot of hockey novels, and if you don’t either, don’t be afraid of this one. Hockey is an element, but it isn’t a huge focus of the novel (nor is it in the first). Instead it delves deep into the beautiful love that forms between Eden and Beckett. It has its own beauty purely for the healing properties that their love and this story provokes. Our heroine is the different kind; she’s got this soul-deep drive but fear is etched across her in every way. Beckett complements her so incredibly well, being forward when she can’t and being passive when she is too out of focus to ask for him to step back. They share an instant chemistry that goes much deeper than attraction. Jordan set them up together so nicely, and it worked smoothly and without effort. I wasn’t once pulled from their story or confused by either of their reactions. If it weren’t for my needing to turn the light off to sleep for a bit, I would have read straight on through.

This a low-angst and endearing love story that paints two flawed characters in their most honest light, but manages to show the true beauty of being what they are underneath. Their connection was palpable and fiery. Jordan turned up the heat again, creating this perfect balance between hot and sweet. I’m highly enjoying this series and the love stories that are coming from it. I really can’t wait for more, and urge you to give these a try!

My Review

Sometimes fun. Sometimes naughty. Always romantic.

I am a New York Times Bestselling Author writing under the pseudonym Skye Jordan for my more … sexually heated … works.

My Skye Jordan novels are all about enjoying that little wild streak we all have, but probably don’t let out often enough. About those fantasies we usually don’t get the opportunity to indulge. About stretching limits, checking out the dark side, playing naughty and maybe even acting a little wicked. They’re about escape and fun and pleasure and romance.

And, yes, even love. Because even as Skye Jordan I’m just a happily ever after kinda gal.

Thanks for reading!
