The thrilling new Moon Shifter novel from New York Times bestselling author Katie Reus.

Losing her was the hardest thing he’d ever endured….

Warrior shifter Aiden’s investigation of the trafficking of vampire blood leads to a startling discovery: the beautiful vampire bondmate he thought was dead. Decades ago, they’d defied their powerful families to be together, but then Larissa disappeared without a trace. When their mating link broke, it nearly destroyed Aiden. Now she’s back with no memory of where she’s been. Even more shattering—Larissa claims she has no idea who Aiden is.

Now she’s back….

It’s a race against time to bring down an operation more evil than his pack ever suspected, and Aiden finds himself working side by side with a mate who no longer trusts him—and she wants out. But he lost her once, and he won’t let her go again. Unfortunately, Larissa’s blood is the key to a powerful monster’s dangerous plan—and he’ll stop at nothing to destroy her, sparking off a war between the supernaturals and humans that no one will win.

Paranormal romances are hard. The setting, the characters, the magic, it can all be hard to make work. But when it works, it works! I absolutely loved this book. Not only do we meet Aiden and Larissa, and get into their heads, but we also get into the heads of the other packmates. Some old, some new. It was steamy, riveting, and exciting.

“‘…We’re bonded, Larissa. I’ve loved you since the moment we met and that feeling never died, even when I thought you had. The fact that you can’t remember me, remember us, kills me.'”

Aiden once had a love so great, but it was ripped away from him sixty years ago. They were lovers of different species whose families were not happy to have an interspecies coupling. They planned to run away and start over in the United States, but before that can happen, Larissa dies. The bondmate link is severed, causing Aiden both harrowing pain and grief. Sixty years without his mate has been hard. Since then he has found a new pack, and has a purpose in life again. He’s an investigator currently investigating trafficking of vampire blood, and that leads him straight into her. Larissa. The mate he thought was murdered. It takes nano seconds to realize it is her, and the second he does, his wolf springs into action.

“‘…I lost you once, Larissa. I can’t go through that again.'”

Larissa is a very powerful, royal vampire who was put into stasis sixty years ago. She’s awoken without her memories of Aiden, and in a completely new technological world. Imagine going to sleep back in the ’40s, and waking up to this world. While she may not have her memories of Aiden, its on an instinctual level that she remembers him and his wolf. It’s this instinct that keeps her from escaping him. It’s also this instinct that creates this magnificent sexual tension between the two, that builds into something more. And while she thinks it’s foolish to trust these instincts around this man, she let’s herself do so. Something tells her to do so.

“His dark eyes seemed to glow under the moonlight. ‘I want to be more than just mates. I want to bond with you, Larissa. You’re mine.'”

A wonderful paranormal romance that had me reading well into the early morning hours. The suspense was just enough to keep my heart beating fast, but the relationship between Aiden and Larissa was what really captivated me. They had this hidden bond connecting them, his sorrow and relief for having her back, and this new sexual attraction that she felt for him even though she didn’t know him. It was a great mix of everything, but with an intelligent story behind it all. And while we fall in love with Aiden and Larissa as they fall in love a second time, we also get to see firsthand a budding romance between Ryan and Teresa which was a longtime coming. Every character’s mind that we entered was necessary. I loved the way the story unfolded a little bit in each person’s mind, but also added it’s own element to the story. All of it created an amazing tale that will bring me back to re-read in the future.
