Holy hell. This book and author came out of no where. I tend to read a lot of books of different genres, erotica included. I feel like I’ve read it all and I can read pretty much anything, sex scenes and dirty talk and all, without even a blush. But when I read this book, it had me blushing like a school girl. I even found myself looking at the person sitting next to me (I was on a plane) to make sure they didn’t notice how much I was blushing.

“I knew I wanted too much too soon, but I was addicted to Matt’s dirty mouth. I was addicted to the way he humiliated me in bed.”

Matt and Hanna have a platonic online relationship with rules – no pictures, no specifics, no personal information. They were writing buddies that met online. They had their own lives and were each in their own relationship. Until they both started breaking the rules. As much as Matt fought it, he wanted to know more about Hanna. And the more he knew, the more fascinated he got. There is a story here that hooks you. You’ll really want to understand what’s going on in Matt’s head and world. You will find yourself fascinated by this man that lives his life anonymously.

From the very first chapter, I absolutely adored Matt. I loved his voice. I loved his honesty. I loved him. He was real! He wasn’t perfect, actually he was far from it. But that’s what made him endearing. Matt was cocky and demanding, but at the same time he had a vulnerability that made you root for him despite all of his secrets. Hanna was the perfect equal to Matt. It’s almost like these two people were made for one another. Hanna woke up something that was hiding inside of Matt – something he never even knew was there.

“Ugh, he was so fucking infuriating. And he was so fucking delicious, and mysterious, and impatient.”

The writing in this book was so honest and it really took me for a ride. It was written in alternating POVs between Matt and Hanna and the story was so much more than sex. It was gripping and emotional. The author really made me feel the emotions that both characters were going through. The first half, in my opinion, was everything that I would want from an erotica book. It had hot sex, a lot of amazing blush-worthy dirty talk and plenty of scenes that just made you smile with hope for these two characters.

“We touched all of one another, tasted everything. We were slow, gentle, and quiet. We took what we wanted. We gave it up.”

“You don’t give me pleasure, do you understand? I take it from you.”

While the first half of the book was sexy, the second half of the book had all the drama and angst that sets this book apart from others in this genre. It was easy to get caught up in their budding relationship. However, Matt was playing a dangerous game. One with secrets and deceit. One that I, as the reader, knew would eventually catch up to him. And when it did, shit hit the fan, but in the most unexpected way. Just when I thought I knew what would happen next, I was shocked by the turn of events. It made me realize that I had no idea who Matt was. But, this was the part that made me love this book.

This is the first book in the trilogy and there isn’t a cliffhanger…exactly. The book ends with a complete story; however, there is an epilogue that will absolutely knock your socks off. It’s not a cliffhanger, but it leaves you going “what. the. hell!” It seems to set up the second book perfectly and I cannot wait to read it.

I cannot finish this review without gushing one last time over the way this book was written. I’m having a hard time putting it into words but this book was written in a way that is unlike any book I’ve ever read. I was instantly drawn into this story and attached to the characters, Matt especially. Maybe it’s because Matt’s part was written so unlike any other male point of view. Regardless, I highly recommend you read this book. But, be prepared to blush and squirm 😉
