Crossing the Line #4; Interconnected Standalone
Disgraced cop Henrik Vance is having a shit year. Banished to a derelict undercover squad, he’s been tasked with hunting down the daughter of Chicago’s most dangerous criminal. His obsession with saving the beautiful girl destroyed his career. And this time, it might cost his life.
Ailish O’Kelly doesn’t need a hero. She’ll save herself from her father’s violent criminal dynasty, thank you very much. Unfortunately, the sexy as sin cop who crashes her hideout isn’t hearing reason—especially not after the kiss that becomes much more.
His boss wants her as an informant. Ailish wants Henrik to keep whispering filthy things against her skin. But she knows too well the evil they’re up against, and when it comes down to protecting the man who owns her body and soul, she only has one choice…
♦5+ STAR REVIEW♦
I know to expect great and wonderful things with new Tessa Bailey books, but I wasn’t expecting RAW REDEMPTION to be this good. I mean, I should considering how much her stories and words always blow me away, but there was something extra special about this book, and I think it had a lot to do with the characters. Henrik, a disgraced cop, called to me when I met him in the last book. He had such a wounded, desperate aspect to him, but it was hidden beneath big stature, big muscle, and that typical broody alpha mentality. He may no longer be a cop, but he still holds it close to him in everything he does. And it needs to be considering he’s on the undercover squad along with a select few chosen misfits and cons in order to take down crime where their skills are best needed. Henrik’s mission becomes entirely too personal when the girl he threw everything away for becomes his new objective: bring Ailish O’Kelly back home in order to have her take down her crime boss father.
Ailish O’Kelly is very much like the princess hidden away in the lonely tower, guarded by fire-breathing dragons; for she’s been locked away and forced to witness and do terrible things in order to appease her father. Her one chance at running away becomes her absolute everything. What I loved about Ailish was that she was entirely impulsive and non-trusting, so she didn’t always make rash decisions, because of this, she didn’t necessarily make things easy on both herself and others. But Tessa wrote her in such a way that she had the ability to admit when she did something stupid. She had a conscience that worked on others and herself, which is sort of rare when it comes to fictional heroines (since, you know, most just do stupid stuff and don’t realize or won’t admit how they risked so many things). She drives Henrik crazy, absolutely so, with both his instinctual need for her, and in her rash decision making. But their dynamic worked, ridiculously well. They had a delicious push-pull that made this book scorching hot (and I mean SCORCHING). He was animalistic in his need for her, and she was in desperate need to be handled. Which, I mean, YUM.
RAW REDEMPTION is erotic. Yes, absolutely. But it carries an actual story between two progressing characters, and it consumed me. I didn’t want to let them go. I didn’t want to let the series go. It was written perfectly in that every action either moved the story or the character forward. Each moment forced them to grow and be shaped, and it was real in that trust isn’t automatically given, regardless of that irresistible sexual attraction. I will forever say in my reviews of Tessa’s books that I’m astounded by how she creates her men with their raw need and filthy mouths, along with their instinctual bodies. And I’ll continue saying that she creates resilient women who have no problem fighting harder and longer than any man. They earn their places, and the men have to work to earn them. No one can match Tessa in what she does, and RAW REDEMPTION was absolutely perfect.

♦ABOUT THE AUTHOR♦
Thank you for your interest in my books! I’m Tessa and I live in the crazy, loud, overcrowded borough of Brooklyn, New York. I love it here. This city is a constant source of inspiration, which is why I’ve decided to set my most recent books in the Line of Duty Series here.
I moved to New York when I was eighteen, the day after I graduated high school. Threw my suitcase in the back of a Chevrolet Cavalier and drove across the country to find my adventure. I’m still finding it, little by little.Thank you for being a part of it.
