REVIEW: Seize Me (Breakneck #1) by Crystal Spears

seize me

From the author: “If you can’t stand reading about drugs, violence, sex, murder and vengeance, then this isn’t a world for you.”

Rating: 5 stars!!!

“I met and fell in love with an ’employee’ of my father’s, and when he wouldn’t condone our relationship and killed the man I loved right before my own eyes, I bolted”

Holy Hell – this quote was from the freaking PROLOGUE! Needless to say, this book had me hooked as soon as I read that line. It has been a while since I’ve read a book that I COULD NOT PUT DOWN. So I rearranged my entire schedule for the day to just be able to read it and it was so worth it!

Before I go further though I do want to point out the note from the author. This book may not be for everyone. It is not your typical love story. It is gritty, it goes outside the lines, it pushes boundaries. It requires you to put your morals and views on social etiquette aside while you are reading. There are some graphic scenes that were…well graphic, violent and sexual in nature. I don’t say this to scare you. I just want to have full disclosure. But I also want you to know that if you can put the morals and your own personal views aside, THIS BOOK WAS FANTASTIC!

Winter has a past, one that she is desperately trying to forget and hide from. Let’s just say she is connected to the mafia and if you’ve watched the Sopranos, you know that your family will always find you unless you do a very good job of staying hidden. In an effort to give her father the proverbial middle finger, she becomes an exotic dancer in her new life. Before you get the wrong impression of her, know that she is not some two dollar stripper who takes men into the back room for a “private dance.” She has boundaries and she has morals. Her her world changes the minute she got suckered into doing a private show for the Breakneck Motorcycle Club, a surprise for the President. When she see Braxxon, her head tells her to stay far away from him, but every other part of her cannot deny him.

“When a man like Braxxon ask you to get naked, and his voice comes out smooth, sexy and not at all demanding, it makes it extremely hard for a girl to turn down.”

The minute Braxxon lays eyes on Winter, he see an Angel and he wastes little time claiming him for his own. Braxxon is not your typical MC Prez; at least not like the ones I’ve heard about before. He wasn’t crude or overly arrogant. He was confident, yet powerful. He wasn’t overly possessive or selfish. He knew what he wanted and took what he wanted, but never without listening to what Winter had to say. He wasn’t perfect – in fact he made some real bone head choices that had me wanting to smack him upside his head, but he knew when he screwed up and owned it. He loved Winter deep in his soul and because he never hid it, it made him more of a man than most. He was the total biker package with two lip rings to sweeten the pot!

“I’m a fucking biker who deals drugs and fucks. I don’t converse.”

“Once we find the one, we cherish the shit outta em. We sometimes have shit ways of doing them wrong, but we always make up for it. They never want for anything.”

Now Winter was a freaking rock star. She was such a bad ass that I was terrified of her, while at the same time I started falling in love with her. This girl was put through the ringer ever since she entered the Breakneck world. She went to hell and back and lost a bit of herself in the process. However, she stayed strong, held her ground and healed herself in the only ways she knew how. She is a fighter and one to never go down without a fight. I loved how she stood up to Braxxon and how she fought for what she believed in. I admired how understanding she was over Braxxon, yet how possessive she was at the same time. This girl is awesome and don’t judge me when I say I kinda want to be like her when I grow up.

“Take that apology and shove it up your ass. If I catch you looking at Braxxon in any way other a friendly manner, I will hurt you.”

The story line had a lot of plot components, but Crystal did a wonderful job of hitting each one without making it feel like it was being rushed. She had a lot of time pass from beginning to end – I think it’s about a six month span give or take – and the story is told in alternating POVs between Winter and Braxxon, which I loved! I don’t know much about motorcycle clubs, all I know is what I’ve read in other books and what I’ve seen on TV and movies, but I was able to really understand this world that is Breakneck MC.

“We’re a screwed up pair. I mean hell, we barely know one another and we’re already going through something that most couples wouldn’t survive.”

I did have a few times where I had to make sure my big girl panties were on good and tight because there were some scenes that were…intense to read. I’m not squeamish and I can hand difficult situations, but I did take a few deep gulps to get through some of these scenes, which were written amazingly by the way. This book isn’t your normal love story, but know it IS a love story. So don’t be afraid of the warning and read this book!

“She’s my Winter for my hottest summer days. She’s the Angel for my hell.”

For the record, although this book is part of the Breakneck series, this is a stand alone book, meaning there is a beginning, middle and end to the story of Winter and Braxxon. No cliffhanger! But I am sure they will pop up in the second book, which I hear Crystal is working on now…

I LOVED THIS BOOK and I hope you will enjoy it as well.

I sit up and edge myself off the bed. I slowly make my way to the bathroom. When I reach the doorframe, I close my eyes as I lean on the door. I take three deep breaths before I reopen them. I’ll never forget this moment. The moment where my legs become jelly and my hand grips the doorknob for support. With his back turned to me, the water cascades down the ripples of his muscled body. His shoulder blades flex as his palms rest on the shower wall and his head tilts down. Braxxon’s back is entirely covered in tattoos, but the one that stands out the most is the intricate spine with breaks going through it from the back of his neck all the way down. The word breakneck splits in two: break on the left side of his shoulder and neck on the right. It almost matches the skeleton figure I’ve seen with the broken neck and the head tilted to the side decorating the back of the cuts. The globes of his ass are strong and firm, and it makes me want to dig my fingernails deep into the skin of them. His left hand leaves the wall and runs through his short brown locks. His body starts to turn as his head tilts back and the water runs over his closed eyes. I suck in a breath and start to lose my balance even as the door tries to keep me steady. My gaze is stuck and mesmerized on this magnificent man. Sculptors would fight to the death to get a hold of him. His eyebrows are perfect. His eyelashes are so long and dark, any woman would be jealous. His nose is the perfect size for his strong jawbone; his gorgeous lips pierced twice. The hoops sitting right next to one another have a small chain connecting them. How did I not feel them both? I felt just the one.

My feet move me closer as I push off the door. My gaze travels over his chest and my palms begin to sweat as my eyes land on a chiseled eight-pack that has a faint scar running through them. His V dips so far in I just want to run my tongue along the depths of that valley. His happy trail fades away to nothing but a freshly shaved area. Oh, he’s so clean cut and yet dirty at the same time and to make his flawed free body even more astonishing is his long thick cock hanging flaccid. I move my attention back to his face, his eyes still closed as his lips twitch into a crooked smile. He feels me. I step into the shower and run my nail along his scar. Braxxon’s eyes fly open, and I gasp as his hand catches me and his gray eyes stop me.

In that moment where my mind, body and soul are assaulted, I know that I’ll never be the same ever again. Braxxon has seized me, and something tells me he isn’t letting me go.
